I polled my Facebook community and asked them Which Social Media Faux Pas do you find the most annoying? Let me tell you, the comments kept coming! Do you think I hit a nerve? LOL Keep reading below and let me know if you agree with any of these.
Don’t get me started! The biggest for me are auto follows and pushing Facebook posts to Twitter.
LEIGH: Yes Robin Read Griffin – cut off posts on Twitter, where you can’t read the rest because it wasn’t written for Twitter…that’s frustrating for sure!
Spelling mistakes and dead links. Am very grateful for a colleague who lets me know whenever I make a spelling mistake.
– Carolyn Caldwell, Caldwell Evolution
LEIGH: Dead links are brutal, right? I hate going on a wild goose chase!
The one way dump. It’s all about them ALL the time. Boring. And SELFIES! Once in a while ok, but all the time – see above, so self absorbed. Also selfies with so called celebs. Don’t let your self esteem be so low that you have to think you’re more important because you are with someone slightly famous.
LEIGH: Check out magazine covers on the newsstands, it’s all about YOU…Your plan, Your guide and Your Tips. You’re absolutely right Patti! As for SELFIES, I think there are two sides to this – I think when it comes from a genuine place, when we meet famous or semi-famous people it can be exciting and if we are coming from a place of celebration or pride, I think this is ok. But if it’s just done for the wrong reasons, then yes, yuck.
Oh Leigh! You may have opened a can of worms here…LOL! There is absolutely nothing that incenses me more than the lack of CARING about correct spelling and proper grammar. People seem to be in such a hurry that they can’t be bothered to do a quick once-over of their work. Or maybe, just maybe, they do a quick spellcheck but spellcheck is NOT FOOLPROOF!
Spelling and grammar…
LEIGH: Yup! This is the worst…it just represents people the wrong way. (Yet I am sure I am guilty of this sometimes too!! LOL)
We all are. Once in a while can be forgiven. It is funny, and shows you are human. All of the time? That person needs to go back to 5th grade.
I do it all the time when i am on my phone. I seem to be all thumbs on that thing, constantly messing letters up…
Copycat posts. Identical wording content etc to others selling same product but writing as first person experience. It feels inauthentic.
LEIGH: Totally! You gotta be authentic and real!
